Most (if not all) quests related to sending troops their way, will already have a built-in option once you open up the quest window, in which you can select "Simulator" typically right beneath the white boxes where you input your troop numbers.
Another method is through your city's Agora building (once you click the building, locate the Simulator tab above), but it will require you to remember which troops you're fighting against within the quest itself.
