Why the doubled notices?

When, for example, someone attacks, there is a notice square in the bottom right corner telling me there was an attack, then a second one again moments later telling me there was an attack and showing what happened.
Why two notices? Why not just one?
Last night I was mobbed by dozens of opponents with multiple attacks and the list of notices was loooong.

Those are two different things (if I understood what you are talking about correctly ).

The first one is to warn you that an attack is incoming, so you don't miss it. It should disappear once the attack has landed (if it doesn't, clear your cache and cookies), or you can delete it once you have read it (hover your mouse over it and there should a little cross in the top right corner of the box).

The second one is the report notification, clicking on it leads you directly to the report. Same as for the other, it disappears once you have read the report or you can delete the notification.
