Dear players,
With nearly 150 entries in this contest, this has been far and away one of the most participated events we have run. Thank you.
So now a few things,
1. All finalists should remain anonymous. If you start begging for votes or letting people know that a final entry is yours, it will be disqualified.
2. There is to be NO slamming of the poetry. Be positive. Most players worked hard on their entries and I will not allow trolling of the finalists.
3. There were a LOT of entries and the mod team had the unenviable task of narrowing the field to 10. Please show positive sportsmanship. If your entry was not selected, do not post about how much better yours was than the other finalists.

My FPS gaming is a thing of the past
Because of Grepolis and the spells I can cast
I enjoy this game so very much
Now people think I am a bit touched
but I don't care because I love this game
Regardless if people think I am insane

Up at dawn and ready to fight,
I didn't sleep a wink last night,
My cell phone app kept going off,
The enemy thinks that I have gone soft.
I dodge my troops and enlist the militia,
Leave a note to say "sorry I missed ya",
Invite my troops to come back home,
Replace my king on his rightful throne.
Grepolis o' Grepolis,
Didn't think my life would come to this,
No time for work or family,
Grepolis I pledge allegiance to thee.
Now the time has come to launch,
I hear Poseidon blowing his conch,
Summoning all the warriors from far and wide,
We kill the enemy and steal their pride.
My troops will die in battle I fear,
But I'll be running VP's for a year,
I'll rebuild my fleet and when I do,
Trust me dude I'm coming for you!

Come rain, snow or shine,
I shall cast all my divines,
In the hopes that one will accept my valentine.
IF Zeus is my love and Hades my lust,
Then Hera's my heart and Athena my trust,
I shall give them my world until my bank goes bust.
Grepolis is the game no-one should miss,
It will fill up your day with hours of bliss,
There is nothing better than you GREPOLIS!

Oceans Apart we play for keeps,
In different words, at different speeds.
My Senate helps to build my city
To grow so others watch with envy.
Players together, an alliance forms,
Therein forming a family bond.
Swordsmen, Archers, Chariots,
Form a very defensive lot.
Horsemen, Slingers, Hoplites too,
For the offensive, and Catapults must brew.
I adore Hera, for her constant blessings,
Athena I call when my troops are lessened.
When Naval Units are on approach,
Poseidon is sure to be my coach.
Dreams of Grepolis I have at night
Must build, and train, and trade, and fight.
Quitting I shall never do, for I can never bid adieu.

Grepolis, of humans and gods.
To rise above and defy the odds.
We wage war, plunder, and pillage.
Make our metropolis where 'twonce was village.
Then some days we pray for peace.
To drink, be merry, and feast.
This be why, O Grepolis, I pay homage to thee.
For while challenging, you are fun and free.
Not a day passes this god's humble servant,
Where I don't play if just to stay current,
And strive to be the best,
To rise, a god above the rest.
Grepolis, god among games.

A world of battle, and brutal war,
Besieged yet worthy such that I would adore,
Dark shores and shadows veil it not,
Though mens' bodies be left to rot,
I behold as I behold my kingdom in love non-clandestine,
This brutal beautiful world is my violent valentine.
I love this world I overlook,
I love the villages I took,
The warriors that I have killed,
By hands of warriors well-trained and skilled.
My commerce grows and my kingdom burgeons,
Via the way my every warrior his foes he bludgeons.
In his violence his love leaves him listless,
With his violent valentine Grepolis.

In my world, the fates declare
That Grepolis is a game so fair.
Alliances build with strength and trust,
All to fulfull your attacking lust.
Tho' dreams of peace may fill your soul
Only war will achieve your goal.
Armies, navies, and demons as well
Unleash on your enemies a mighty hell.
So choose your world and name your city,
Choose a god that shows no pity.

My real life has been what some would call sad/
The death of some friends, and loss of my dad/
My mother is sick and bound to her bed/
My sister in prison, it messed with my head/
I say this to you: life would have been twisted/
If friendships in Grepolis had never existed/
From Arcalas in Eta to Mike in Theta/
Friend and foe alike have made me a better player/
Also a better person, and this is no doubt/
That friendship in this game is what it's really about/
From DottieDear of course, in us18 Rho/
My momma-bear of sorts, and I love her as so/
To Maverika also, who spends hours and hours/
Hearing my weakness and turning it to power/
Though foe she may be, for hours on end/
She listens to me, the dearest of friends/
Real life has been tougher, these past few years/
and would have been rougher, if not for those here/
The noobs I put down, and my ambition: a crown/
Mean less to yours truly than the friendships I've found/

"There exists a glorious game, one that alters countless lives
A game that has cost women jobs and grades, and men their wives.
It has given us hope and joy when real life offers us none,
and brought us many a late night or early morning of fun.
There are multiple players, myself included, that get so involved they are prone,
to bouts of rage, an increased speed of age, calling foes toddlers or crones,
after losing a nuke or failing an op, we have thrown our laptops and brooded,
yet across time zones, with players as varied as the use of each city's pop,
an intense love for our time spent playing this game is rooted deep within our bones.
Many a good friend we have met and lost,
many an ally alienated and swords soon crossed,
spouses enraged, new loves discovered,
true loves uncovered, in the future, engaged?
Inspiration needed and given, newbs, teachers, and diplomats to madness driven,
experience often applicable to RL, this beloved game we share has cast a spell.
Ever-changing, never put your eggs in too few baskets,
for every troop slain and each ship sunk we have not enough caskets.
From the day of registration, we're put to the test noon and night,
staring down timers, perspiration, this game is our pride and light.
So unleash every manticore, LS, sling, hoplite, horse, and erinys,
