Changelog 2.118

Dear Community,

On August 10th, 2016, we will update Grepolis to Version 2.118. Below are a list of changes we plan to make.

Summary

  • Within this version we implemented a confirmation prompt to inform you in case you want to activate a unit generating effect but don't have enough free population.
  • Additionally we added two new awards and decreased the height of several windows to fit to our minimum screen resolution.
  • Furthermore we increased the base speed of all heroes to a minimum of 35, to not slow down other units anymore. Only Atalanta keeps speed 40.
New Features and Changes

  • Community request - We implemented a confirmation dialog in case you want to activate a unit generating effect but don't have enough free population.
  • Now you can enable or extend premium advisors while your current town is under conquest.
  • BPV - We changed the quest logic for attacking Bandits' Camp quests. From now on these quests will be completed as soon as you won the fight and not after you accepted the reward in the camp.
  • [Grepolisscore] We have added two new combat awards:
    • "Intercepted Colony Ships"
      • You have destroyed x colony ships while supporting another player's city.
      • deadcolony4_support.png
    • "Stopping Colony Ships"
      • You have destroyed x colony ships while defending an own city.
      • deadcolony4_def.png
  • Tutorial arrows should not overlap any texts anymore. We checked around 80 quests in the browser and changed the positioning of the yellow help arrow.
  • Closing special offer windows (sale or package offers) will not open another window afterwards anymore.
  • We have decreased the size of the following windows to fit to our minimum screen resolution:
    • New farming villages
    • Grepolisscore
    • Marketplace
    • Premium overviews
    • Messages
    • Heroes
    • Alliance profile
    • Island overview
    • Within one of the next updates we will also adjust the size of the questlog and the advisors / advantages windows.
  • Furthermore we increased the base speed of all heroes to a minimum of 35, because we don't want heroes to have a negative influence on the unit speed. Only Atalanta keeps her speed of 40.
Bugfixes

  • In the past we had cases where players founded a town on an island with world wonder but without a legal foundation spot. We added another check in the code to prevent these cases in the future.
  • The alliance finder displayed wrong alliances as recommended. Now it is always the alliance with the highest rank from the list that has also an open application state.
  • Some tutorial arrows were displayed although the quest has already been fulfilled

I find it a loss of strategy. Before this change, you had to choose if you wanted Urephon to accompany your manticores to give extra strength with a speed loss, or if you decided to keep the normal speed but with no strength boost...

Now you just need Urephon in the city and you have mantis going the normal speed with extra strength. So kinda disappointed by this change.

I'm not sure this makes sense but I'm too tired to try to rephrase it right now :)

Nononononono, I totally understand some may like this, but any good grepo player, who liked when the game actually demanded a certain level of strategy and intelligence will dislike this change. Next thing we know they change the way the siege system works because it's too complicated for new players to understand...

This change is the symptom of how Inno is trying to attract new players, who are only looking for a casual gaming experience that doesn't require too much thinking (much like a game whose name starts with Clash and ends with Clans), while neglecting their already existing player base. And that's why people stop playing by the thousands across all servers.

Eh, I disagree. I like the change, I don't think a hero specifically geared towards helping myths should be a detriment to their entire point, which as flyers is to be a quick, mobile hit squad.

I don't think this balance change makes the game "Less strategical/more casual" by removing the choice of whether to increase speed or power at all, and it sounds really pretentious to say that as if making that choice somehow makes you good or elite in some way.

I may have phrased my post poorly, but I stand by my message - Inno is slowly but surely destroying the game, making it a brainless game with literally no strategy where you just gold up thousands of troops to hit thousands of other troops, and get a city.

I clearly have a worst opinion of inno that you do 'cos I don't think change is to make things simple. I think it's due to laziness and in part profits. I know a few people have stopped bothering with attack planner since heroes were introduced, as the change in TT due to heroes made it ineffective and found that using pen and paper was more accurate. Instead of altering the attack planner to include heroes, I think they've taken the easy way out and made them the same speed to save them from doing it.

So I suppose I'm in favor of the change, as I do think inno should try to get the prem feature to work correctly, as it's not fair for people to pay for something that isn't fit for purpose. However I do agree that overall inno seems to dumbing down the game and making it so gold can replace strategy and activity which is a shame.

I don't think it makes sense that any of the heroes are slower than any troop. Heroes are supposed to be these amazing.. well, heroes. Shouldn't they be riding on horses and fly faster than anything else?

Well I guess if one uses his/her imagination, it can be easily determined that the mythical hero, say for example, Urephon, leading a manticore attack, would hop a ride on one of the manticores that is going to fight. That could either produce the hero traveling at the same speed, or holding the manticores back due to the added weight that one creature is carrying, therefore preventing that one animal, and the whole group, from moving at top speed.

So either one is fine. I still like the change.

I really enjoy the change to the heros. Also like the new awards geared towards defenders!
