Triremes

I have been disappointed with the role the Trireme has been given; not more offensive than Light Ships and not more defensive then Biremes;
historically the creation of the Trireme was the technological innovation that gave Athens the edge over all her rivals and made her ruler of the Aegean; I would like to see the Trireme a third more offensive than Light Ships and a third more defensive then Biremes; that would more closely approximate its historical role.

I like the changes being made to the trireme, lucretius they can't make it better than the other two because then light ships and biremes would never be used.

I don't understand why they aren't used in conquest worlds before the changes. :D
I guess I would be a noob in those worlds.

I tend to agree with Lucretius here, Joseph. The Trireme was the ultimate weapon on the seas at the time. Making them better will not negate the use of the lower cost Biremes and Light Ships but will get more players to use them I believe. I do not think that making them faster and a little more powerful will much difference in there game use.

I would propose the only change that be made to the Trireme is to reduce the population cost, leaving everything else the same. Reducing the population cost to 12 would make it slightly better in defense, while it's lack of speed would deem it still less useful as support, when compared to the Bireme. Light Ships would still be superior attackers. This would make the Trireme a much more viable option, even if only as a colony escort, simply because one could make more of them.

This wouldn't change the Trireme's usage all that much but it would be much more effective when it is used. It would still have the added benefit of building very quickly for the total attack/defense it provides, and it's speed and resource cost would still limit it's use. However, it would at least have a niche where it excels. This change would make the Trireme relevant, but is would not become an end-all, over powered, build-only-this unit.

Reduce the population cost to 12.

2 things in regards to the tri's if it is to be called the battleship of the game it should be just that better then any other ship out there. in response to other quotes here lower cost of LS would not hinder there use if tri's were better. it being toward the end of the acad unlocks makes it a goal an at present a disappointing one.

Nobody is using Tiremes!Hope that will change after rebalancing! :)

Triremes are useless in a revolt world but they're very handy in a conquest world as escorts of the attacking CS. They'll be the first defense present in the city.

Rebalencing to improve usefulness in revolt worlds would be good. Not one reason to use them now, as even if you successfully take the city, a viable counter under revolt would be 12 hours, more than enough time to get biremes there.

I actually don't like this update because they are only useful for escorting CS's on conquest which I guess is still useful but since they are almost twice as fast as LS now, the CS escort being really the only use of the tireme makes this update pretty useless IMO.

Give them an edge over LS and Brimes and then if you must (I don't think you have to) increase the cost by a bit. Or maybe just increase the build time. Also lower the pop please.

I like the idea of having the trireme be the battleships of our fleets. So I would not be in favor of making them faster than the other ships. However, I would increase their speed to 12, and bump the bireme to 14 and keep the Light ships at 15. Right now the main reason I don't use triremes is because they are just too slow.

Make them stronger than they were before, just a little weaker than light ships and birmes, but keep them slow, like dasajocu said, the battleships of our fleets.

I would like them a bit faster, but not a whole lot faster. I would however like a bit of a boost on defense and offense so that they would even LS and Biremes, but still cost quite a lot more.

I like tri's except that they are just too darn slow.
If it were up to me, I would make the tri a little more attack than the LS, a little more defense than Birs, and cost a little more than LS+Birs with a speed of 25.

Also are you going to make the speed changes to existing worlds?
