Lightning bolt

In the top right you have the spells you cast on your own city, why is lightning bolt on it instead of favorable wind for Zues??

Because 'favorable wind' has to be cast on an attack, whereas you can bolt you own city.

why would I want to bolt my own city?

In late-game, it might be useful to destroy a building's level and get pop, but it isn't used a lot as you don't know which building will be destroyed :D

And same goes for Plague, when it is cast, you are given the option to extend the spell for 3 hours (speed 1 world)... Useless too ;-)

It would be better to demolish a building then to lightning bolt your city. :D

Lightning bolt is more fun, you don't know what will be destroyed :-D

I dunno, could waste 4-5 hours depending on what it is and if you take your senate down some. Not to mention the resources you could be building troops with.

You don't get resources for destroying a building, only population. Also I usually end up destroying my senate anyways, so it would be nice to see a senate level being destroyed, for me at least.
