Why not using them in attack and keeping the same system, I mean 1 fire ship kills 1 bireme ?

Is it a good idea ?

I kind of like that idea, although they would have to move a lot faster if they are going to be used for offense.

The only good use if they were attackers is when you are going up a wall of birs because if you are attacking 1k+ birs, you are going to lose more ls than you kill birs. They would be good in that sense. They would also be good cs escorts if the speed doesn't increase as well.

When used as a defensive unit, the Fire Ship is enguaged only after all other defensive ships have first been destroyed. Perhaps, if used as an offensive unit, the Fire Ships would be destroyed before any other ships in that battle. This would at least make the Fire Ship functional, maybe as a CS escort... it's speed would still hinder it's usefulness.

This thread is for ideas on how to rebalance Fire Ships.

I like the concept around the fire ship but reluctantly have not even built one due to the fact it costs pop. and they are expensive to build if a ship is on fire an headed in a collision coarse for a ship I would not stick around for it and would not imagine in ancient Greece they would of either. there is an old story of the first diver sabatours in constatanople who would dive from the city an scuttle greek ships that were laying siege on the city often referred to as the first marine warfare.

I think Fire Ships would be a lot more useful if they were the first defense instead of the last.

They way it works now, when an attack includes transports and ls, biremes will take out as many ls as they can. If all the biremes sink, the ls will then be sunk by the fire ships, but all the transports still get through. The fire ships are then useless because they can't help prevent the transports from landing.

Instead, if the fire ships would sink the ls first, then the biremes could take out the transports, then they would be a lot more effective.

maybe there should been a units thats really fast.....I mean really fast.....off but weaker then ls!
So it main usage would be for breaking siege,scouting and etc!

Why the FS can't sink a CS???
Limits CS capabilities too much. I think this should remain.


My own thoughts: maybe make fire ships available to assault biremes too? Not sure how the balance would be thrown if this were to happen, but they would really be used more. I think they could be maybe speed 7-9 too.

YES. fire ships are worthless right now. either let them sink one for one First or dont limit them in their defense. if they could sink ANY ship on defense it would be a game changer.

Honestly, I don't think that would be all that OP either. Biremes would still be widely used regardless, due to the much faster support time. I say go for it put Fire Ships at the front.

I think if you speed fire ships up to around8-10 and then let them defend first that you would have a much better ship. They should no be able to kill the CS but everything else is fair game. I think they should be enabled on the attack also. And attack first before the LS. They would make a perfect CS escort. Instead of making them super fast just give them these traits and I'd use them once again because I would know heir worth, not because I was a noob once and like things on fire :p

I've been playing this game for many months, and when it comes to attack and defense, Fire Ships are not a consideration (even though I keep a few around just in case). Making Fire Ships at least useful has to be the main goal. Making them a Hybrid (attack and defense) will definitely enhance this game. The balance would be giving Fire Ships capabilities that the other ships don't have. This will help build interest in the game. A lot of Newbies give up on this game because it's to hard to learn game strategies quickly enough for reasonable advancement. Like any good story, the Reader/ Listener/Watcher/Player needs to be grabbed (engaged) right away, or they will lose interest. If you need proof, just look at the newer world (Ithaca), were the initial player population dropped by 90% in the last three months. I know that the players that read this statement could care less about Corporate Strategies, but my comments are meant for the corporate Bosses that think adding new worlds will increase player population in the long term.
