Breaking a Conquest World Siege - After CS Sunk

Hi,

Recently broke several sieges from the same very large (and now very annoyed ;) ) player. My question is say I have a naval victory and sink the CS that is besieging me, do his land troops return home or do they die? Also let's assume I have a land victory, his naval troops return home correct?

I assume they return home, but just wondering for strategy.

Hello :)

The troops you didn't defeat while breaking the siege will automatically return home in both cases. However, if he sent support from other cities, it will stay in your city unless you send it back :)
