I use CS5 and everything is still the same or extremely similar. I'm pretty sure this is also the same for CS4 and may be relevant for CS3. Don't take my word for it but I'm pretty sure

What your'e looking for to get to these options is your Adjustment and Fill Layer option. It's the little black and white circle at the bottom of your layer tab. Look at this picture for reference!
