"You can't occupy another farming village" why?

I'm trying to take my 6th village and I'm just getting this message. It's not very helpful, any clues as to what I am supposed to do now?

I have 302 "Free population" which I'm assuming is what everyone calls "Farm Space"...

From looking at the table here, I need 300 "Farm Space", so I should be able to take it, no?

Unless I'm wrong about "Farm Space" actually meaning "Free population". Perhaps the guides could use the same terminology as the game.

When it comes down to conquering farming villages, people use 'Farm Space', when they mean units in your city; in order to conquer the next farming village, you will need to have at least troops worth 300 population (wether you build 29 light ships and 10 swordsmen is up to you, as long as it adds up to 300 total).

When you try to conquer the farming village, you will see a blue bar on top showing xxx/300 - This indicates how many more units you will still need, or wether you've already reached the needed capacity.
