World Settings

I get that Pella is a Conquest world, but I cannot find anywhere that definitively identifies the length of the default siege in this world. The wiki says to consult the world settings, and that's it. The default siege length is not identified in the world settings either. Can a GM answer this question, please?

Arckaine,
I believe it is 11 hrs 30 mins then add 10% if the city has Demo researched. At least that was what it was in MU which was a World speed 2

It's 24 divided by world speed. So 12.

I'm thinking you are correct. I just wish this type info was detailed even a little more clearly. Even if it is the means of calculating it myself. I will assume you are correct Zenima. Thank you.

Yes, its 12 hours. We have tested it a few times already

Speed 1 world's (NOT Pella, but World Marathon is Speed 1) has CQest taking 24 hours to complete.

Speed 2 world's (Like this one) takes 12 hours to complete.

Speed 3 worlds (Very few) take 6 hours to complete.

All of these times are WITHOUT Democracy researched. As Demo adds 10% to total time. Just do the math from there.

I appreciate you guys laying it out there and doing the math for me (even though I'm an engineer and a math nut), but my point is that how to determine it independently is not actually listed where it should be: the wiki. Actually saying how to determine it (the formula) would forego someone posting this very question on the forum.

In fact, I posted another game mechanics question several months ago regarding the Breakthrough research and whether it was still dependent on the attack strength of an escort or just the number of ships in escort. I never got an answer. I ended up getting my answer off experimentation with the simulator and assumptions based on the results. I don't like working off assumptions. Heck, I'm an engineer!

Give me formulas, or give me death!

I can understand the developers not wanting to release actual algorithms used in-game...but a little more than a clue would be nice. You know?

24/[world speed]

There's your formula for conquest hours. Though I think you're fine with that already.

As for breakthrough, I want to see these formulas Childress has too. Probably will still rarely use it though.

Agreed. My argument was if it is derived from the number of sacrificial ships, then biremes would be the more efficient unit of choice on a breakthrough attack. If it were based on the attack power, then LS would still be the definitive escort for all attacks.

Imagine if it were based on the number of non-transport boats in the attack and not offensive naval power... that would transform the way I think about breakthrough altogether. I usually use 60 LS as an escort for my OLU on normal attacks. That would equate to 75 birs in terms of FS...I'm sure you get the idea. It would at least force me to revisit using that research.
