If units are built separately why is it that they can not be separated ? Case in point if i send sea and land units to support then why cant i recall just the sea units ? If i wish to move them i would have to send ships again . I mean they are transports they move stuff around .

It's just the mechanics of how the game works. Imagine, you come under attack, and your TS are destroyed, but all your defenses are supporting an ally. Unless your allies come to your rescue, you're doomed. Of course, you can withdraw non-transport ships whenever you wish, without having to withdraw land troops.

Acu explained this much better than I did somewhere on a similar topic.
