4)The Rebellion...
The alliance I'm in. Organized and fighting 2 big wars + we have a coalition forming on us. The 2 wars will escalate even more in 1 week (you heard it from me first). We have big plans for EoD and Vendetta which will create bigger chances for us to conquer cities. Swim for now.

Funny, considering that your alliance just imploded. Were those your big plans? To fall apart?

1. Empire of Death - No real opinion on them as of yet. The distance between us means I don't receive much intel In-Game, nor do I look for it as extensively as closer alliances. I'm sure I'll have a better assessment later, especially when our immediate enemies are dealt with. Float until then :p
2. Vendetta - Float, however much it pains me to admit - especially considering I loathe academies/family/sister/whatever alliances - I don't see these guys going anywhere anytime soon.
3. THE GANG - People are dishing out a lot of hate on this alliance. I personally don't see why. They seem to be doing quite well. Float.
4. HUMMUS - Swim. I have to appreciate the op against Caesar Pesous... simply based on that alone, HUMMUS gets some brownie points in my book.
5. Genesis - Doesn't appear to have much going on. I suppose that means they float for now, but I'm interested to see what they can truly do in an all-out war down the road.
6. The Rebellion... - No true opinion, at least anything based in facts. Float.
7. Cosa Nostra - Sink. These guys are terrible... No matter how good the players are, they will not survive poor leadership. And that is precisely what we have here. [And I took one of their cities as retribution for their leader's ineptitude ;) ] They can orchestrate defenses well enough, but their offense is lacking... For the third time I have killed one of their Colony Ships with only a handful of BRs. How I imagine the conversation went down:
"Yeah, lets keep sending 1br escorts with the Colony Ship. We'll send more later."
"He killed the Colony Ship"
"Oh, damn - well lets forget to withdraw our support before we send in clearing waves..."
8. Psych Ward. - HUMMUS ran a very successful op against them - Caesar Pesous, specifically. They took 12 cities yesterday. This was only answered with a 40-ish thousand spike in BPD. I would have expected to see more from an alliance with an academy/sister and a collective 138 players. I also would have suspected much, MUCH more of a fight out of the former top-dog of the world, who managed to rim a great many prolific players...
9. Vendetta. - Academy... garbage. Sink.
10. Psych Ward - Float for now, with the turmoil in their main branch, I don't see their current relation with PW. working out in the long-term.
11. Royal Alliances - No opinion, yet. Honestly, they've been off my radar for the most part.
12. TRODAI - Float, they seem alright - but I will reserve judgment.

21. The Chosen Few - My alliance :p

So, of the top alliances, I have found the following:

EOD - one sister alliance/academy
Vendetta - Two sister alliances
The Gang - No sisters/academies?
Hummus - One sister/academy
Genesis - One sister/academy
The Rebellion - No sisters/academies?
Cosa Nostra - See Vendetta
Psych Ward. - Two sister alliances
Vendetta. - See Vendetta
Psych Ward - See Psych Ward.

The cap here is 88 players. That's a decent cap. Numbers above do not include pacts, but they seem to be bountiful around these here parts.
Why do people feel the need to flood the rankings with numbers and devoid themselves of the actual Grepolis experience (challenge and fighting)? Is this truly what has happened to Grepo?

Sadly that is what Grepolis has become. Its sad, truly. However, its to be expected after a massive ad campaign to generate interest. The new players coming in think bigger is better, and it isn't. So they fall for the MRA-Nonsense... In the top 20 we only have... something like 8 true allegiances (not counting PACTs, simply families) Even the minor-leaguers (Rnk. 13-20) are the academies of the top 12. Ridiculous. Some would think that these academy players would see the doom on their horizon when they are eaten by the main alliance - but many don't and those who do, don't care.. they are simming until then.

Can't blame the MRA's on ads. There have been MRAs and families since Grepo was first made.

On En Theta there were a group of family alliances named after some kind of Spartan and Elite. So like Spartan Elite, Spartan Elite Phalanx, Spartan Elite Academy. All of them with 100+ members some with 200+ it was ridiculous. That was when Grepo was barely a year old yet and well before the TV ad campaigns.

Sadly people think there is safety in numbers, truth is there is only safety in organization.

Yes, yes - I remember Theta. I disbanded Children of the Lights with Jarp back then. "The Spartan Elite" "Spartan Elite Alliance" "Spartan Elite" etc... :p But its never been this bad. Most worlds are being dominated by MRAs. MRAs winning in the mid-game phase is a fairly new trend. Theta had MRAs. I mean we still had Above Average Players, Imperial Guard, and Just For Laughs dominating the world for most of the mid-phase period (I consider mid-phase being from the first conquest to the top 5 players having around 500k points... after that its difficult to win wars - so its pretty stagnant) AAP, IG, and JFL and the others were NOT MRA alliances. Its just that now its become so prevalent that its simply become accepted, so much so that prolific players that even active on the externals are actually in MRAs. That is BRAND NEW as far as Im concerned. MRAs didn't used to have public representation, they were publically shunned by all-comers.

ADD: And Grepolis has been advertising publically since en2 - Beta. The television ads are new, but banner ads on various sites have been there for quite some time.

JFL was pretty good back in the day Slayer, you're in good hands. :)

I think a lot of MRAs over time have crafted out at least a decent living back in the old days. Titans on Gamma survived and thrived for the most part. I believe there was a 1k player MRA on Alpha that was pretty good for a long time. I think it just comes down to skills of the leader and their time.

I also think that US servers favor more MRA teams than EN servers typically. But the most important question I pose to you...When do we get Jarp back? :0

The leader of an MRA needs to be very good, as Ive said before - for his alliance to stand much of a chance. However, recently as Ive noted, the competition for MRAs is practically non-existent... they are, infact competing with other MRAs. I don't know about the EN servers - when I got back to Grepolis, I just decided to join US servers, simply because the inevitable 24hr free-time Turks were starting to irk me...

I do, indeed miss Jarp. My older escapades would be... inappropriate nowadays though. :\

Which is Vendetta's second sister alliance?

Just my opinion

I just felt the need to respond to this.

4. HUMMUS - Swim. I have to appreciate the op against Caesar Pesous... simply based on that alone, HUMMUS gets some brownie

8. Psych Ward. - HUMMUS ran a very successful op against them - Caesar Pesous, specifically. They took 12 cities yesterday. This was only answered with a 40-ish thousand spike in BPD. Response to 4. (lol, you need a new baker. Answer to number 8 applies to this as well.)

Response to 8. (That's a good one. Hummus took advantage of a 3 day ban on Caesar that left him open to attacks. Oh they did great taking cities from someone who could not defend. They should give credit to Caesar and game mods.)

Response to 10. (DVUS96 and Jeffmouse1 are RL friends and will do just fine together. This is not the first world they used this move in. Having multiple alliances run together. They will remain as two until enough quit to join into one alliance again.)
