The Interface Redesign

As readers of our DevBlog already know, we have been discussing the rollout of something very exciting and now it is here! Today we would like to introduce the new user interface! We will be rolling it out in-game shortly but wanted to let you all see it in advance. Thanks to the feedback and suggestions of the community, we were able to create an interface that accomplishes the main goals we set when we started the process:

  • Optimizing the interface for our minimum screen resolution of 1024 x 768 px;
  • Reorganizing elements in a more logical and intuitive manner;
  • Improved integration of the latest features, i.e. inventory, heroes, quests;
  • Visually improved design of the interface.

Without further ado, here is the final design:

Here are the major changes from the current interface:

  • The menu bar is now back on the left-hand side. It contains a caption and is also much more in line with the visual style of the remaining interface;
  • The heroes get their own space right above the units. You can have up to 5 heroes within a game world, and thus, you can see up to 5 faces in there;
  • The button for using spells is now really looking like a button and spells have been grouped by god. Also, the interface will now show you how many times a spell can be enacted according to your current amount of favor for the respective god;
  • The strategic map can still be accessed by the globe-button above the minimap;
  • Buttons around the minimap have been reordered and changed in functionality to allow for a more intuitive usage;
  • Since the game works in three layers as soon as we have the full-screen town overview, you will be able to easily switch between these layers with the top-left buttons (town, island, strategic map);
  • Gold has moved over to the advisors, as the advisors and gold belong to one another;
  • If you have activated the curator, quick links to the barracks and harbor are now added under the land and naval units to the right panel;
  • 7-day login reward will be completely removed, thus you will not see it in this design.

A discussion thread for the interface redesign can be found here.

The new interface is currently being tested on our Public Beta worlds. If you wish to help us improve the quality of the game and to provide us direct feedback on new updates before roll out, feel free to join!
