Supporting Troops

Hey guys, new member here. Quick questions:

I received some swordsmen, slingers, and hoplite from an ally so that I could have an army big enough for an attack. When issuing the attack, I could not send the troops I received from my ally -- only the troops made in my city would attack. Why can't those received troops attack? Why can't I use them?

That being asked, if they can't be told to attack, will they actually defend if I am attacked? Or will they just stand around finga poppin' each othas a$$holes? Likewise, if I receive resources from an ally, like wood, stone, silver, can I actually use them, or do I just get to look at them?

Thanks

The troops you receive from an ally can't be used to attack. However, if you're attacked, the troops will fight along with your own units ;-) If you receive resources, you can obviously use them to build whatever you want :)

I hope I answered your question ;-)
