I just have a question. I've never been in this event before. Are you automatically in the community to get those rewards just by participating in the event or is there somewhere you have to sign up to be a part of the community?

You have to contribute to the event by participating in order to get the rewards when the community goal is met. So automatically by just doing the event with your shots.
