Ocean 55 is where it's at!

So I was taking a stroll along my cozy little island, when I felt like I'd look up my country's rating amount the hundreds of island nations in the world.

104 Who Am 840 points.

I was like, well, not bad for my first grepo world I suppose, but then I got confused.

in Ocean 55, I'm rank...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't that mean that 58 of the 103 people that are ahead of me are in ocean 55?

So, I checked out the other oceans, and sure enough, they had very few players with high rankings. If I were in the following oceans, this is where I would rank-

44 - Rank 15
45 - Rank 20
54 - Rank 13




So my question is, is this some sort of conspiracy, where the random button when you make your account sticks you in 55, or is it that ocean 55 has an aura of "Pro" surrounding it?

Yea it seem like o55 is always the first to fill up, even in all the .EN worlds i have been in. I think if you click random it puts you there first.

In O55 I would be nr. 1, In O45 I would be nr. 1 and even in O44 I would be nr. 1

It's not O55 that's 'overpowered', it's O54!

But yeah, I'm pretty sure the random button's broken. I clicked random once on an EN world, I went into o55. It must indeed be a conspiracy!

The truth is Most players go to 55.. there aren't any conspiracy

The world of grepolis spreads out as the world is made. It starts in 55, no matter where you put on the compass, including random, and spreads out from there. So, if you join on the first day and hit northeast, it puts you in the northeast part of ocean 55, where the world starts. If you join a month after the world starts and hit northeast, it will put you more to the northeast because the world has been inhabited more. I hope this helps, and that all my information is right.

This isn't true. The middle of the world is the point where Ocean 44, 45, 54 and 55 meet. If you choose north-west you'll end up in 44, north-east in 54, south-west in 45 and south-east in 55. Random SHOULD divide the people over all the 4 core oceans equally but it doesn't.

how do you tell what ocean you are in? I am # 3 in my ocean after less than 12 hours playtime, but don't know which ocean it is! (I have the same name in game as here on the forum)

Skully's map is wrong, NE should be SW, and vice versa. Oh, and SE should be flipped along the line y=x. It must've been too long since he's played.

yeah I just figured that out. Makes much more sense!

Another question: I am on an island that is very close to the line between ocean 35 and 45. Is it okay to have your second colony in a different ocean, or is it better to stay in one ocean?
