All the time, I see on the bottom of the screen that there are, for example, eight users online, but only five specific players are listed. Where are the other three? I think that the people with the highest reputation or mods can hide themselves?

Click on settings, go to general settings, and invisible mode is the first setting on the list. Just turn it out and there you go

Not sure there is an advantage, unless you don't like people knowing when you are online. I think I just did it because I saw other people doing it and it seemed cool.
