Grepolis Battleship Competition

We are proud to announce that the Grepolis Battleship Competition will be starting on March 10th at approximately 3:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. In this competition, all you have to do is guess coordinates in a thread.

The Game Board
  • 52 by 52 guess spreadsheet (colored blue) to start with.
    • This gives 2704 total guesses.
    • Letters go from A to AZ
      • Once you get to Z, the 26th column, the next column (27th column) is AA. The columns after are AB, AC, AD, etc..
    • Numbers go from 1 to 52
    • Examples of valid guesses are: A2, AZ52, or B26
  • Moderators will color the spreadsheet to represent the guesses (this will be done as often as possible).
    • The name of the player who guessed and got a hit/sunk the ship will appear as text in the square (this will happen for all red and black tiles).

Color Key
  • Blue = coordinate not guessed
  • White = guessed coordinate, miss
  • Red = guessed coordinate, hit
  • Black = guessed coordinate, ship sunk
Points
  • Points can be earned by getting hits and by sinking ships.
    • Hits = 1 point each
    • Sinking ship = 3 total points (1 from the hit and 2 for sinking the vessel)

Ship Types/Information
  • There are 5 types of ships that will appear in this competition:
    • Transport- Two squares
    • Bireme- Three squares
    • Light Ship- Five Squares
    • Trireme- Six Squares
    • Colony Ship- Nine Squares
  • There are approximately 62 ships in this version.
  • Ships can go horizontally or vertically, but not diagonally.
Prizes
  • There are several prizes that will be awarded at the conclusion of the competition:
    • First Place: 1000 gold + trophy "Battleship 2017: MVP"
    • Second Place: 500 gold
    • Third Place: 250 gold
    • The player who sinks the most ships will be awarded 250 gold and the trophy "Battleship 2017: Torpedo "
      • This prize can be won in addition to any of the other prizes.
    • The player who gets the most hits will be awarded 250 gold and the trophy: "Battleship 2017: Heat-seeking Missile"
      • This prize can be won in addition to any of the other prizes.
Rules
  • Must wait until at least 2 other people have guessed before guessing again. No longer in effect!
  • No double posting or claiming your previous guess was a mistake (This rule is in effect)

The competition will resume tomorrow at 3:00 PM ET. The scores at the end of Friday will be the final scores regardless of whether all the ships sank or not.
