Ganged up on

I don't get it. I've been ganged up on by the wolfknives. I've done nothing to them, but they feel that they need to make this game miserable. My only city is in revolt and I have no troops. So what do I do now? Just sit here and get attacked time and time again? Is this the end of the game for me? What am I supposed to do now?

So does this mean that I lose my only city when they conquer it? How do I play after that and what is the point of continuing to play after you lose your city?
