when i am taking over another city does the city still have to be within the 48 hour range of the colony ship or is the 48 hour limit only for colonizing?
The 48 hour limit is for everything regarding the CS. There isn't enough room on the ship for enough provisions to keep everyone alive and healthy for more than that. Besides, I'd suggest a city much closer at this time, say, about 12 hours or less by CS.
