Attacker and Defender awards

Anybody understand how these are decided? Wiki talks about units killed. Does 1 SL killed count the same as one BR sunk? We in the Guild have been comparing stats from grepointel and it apears to defy logic.

One of ls or harpy died they are both equal to one. It is not BP, this is the amount of men killed only.
