There has been a lot of concern about the app alarm not working, now specifically with Android users.
The Alarm
Let me describe how the alarm works and this should shed some light on some of the issues involved.
When you are attacked, a push notification is sent out by Grepolis through the internet to the app on your phone or tablet.
Once the notification leaves the InnoGames network, we rely on Apple (for iPhones) and Google (for Androids) to relay them to your app, however they control the carrier networks under their respective domains.
Currently we are experiencing A LOT of players reporting issues with Android based phones. We can see the notifications are being sent, however, they are not always being received by the app. Frequently in these cases this is a problem with the carrier. Our Developers are aware of this and are working with our partners in that carrier to correct this issue. Keep in mind InnoGames does not own or control these carriers, they are their own corporate entities with their own corporate priorities.
What can you do?
If you are having issues with the app alarm (regardless of type) here are some troubleshooting steps that may resolve your issues. After each step, have someone trip your alarm or attack yourself (don’t forget to recall…):

- Check your device for settings that may block push notifications. Example: power/battery saving settings
- Ensure your notifications are set up correctly in the app
- Check your volume to ensure that the alarm can be heard
- Clear your device’s cache. If you are not sure how to do this, please refer to the device manufacture’s support.
- Uninstall and re-install the Grepolis app.
- Completely shut down your device (removing the battery and SIM card if possible without voiding your warrantees). Restart your device after a minute of being fully shut down.
