2014 Farewells

There'll be more than a few farewells coming up as school and real life priorities encroach on the glorious world of Upsilon. So in a moment of trans-grepolitan camaraderie, let us take the time to say thank you and farewell to some of the players that have fought along with us or against us as worthy opponents. I've already bid GaryDam (close friend and ally) a farewell, now I start this thread with saying farewell to IP Freely of TEG.

Although I never had the privilege to fight her hoplite to hoplite, she did manage to navigate TEG through some tricky shoals since the outbreak of war. As a result, the Northern Oceans of this world have seen just as much challenging entertainment as the Southern ones. All of us on the server have benefited from your service as a leader. Fare thee well.

Farewell to Legendary.xm. He was a superb Executive Officer for Foos. Legendary was a very popular player who always seem to have a def nuke within reach whenever a city was revolted. Good luck in RL.

It looks like we have another farewell to bid!

By the looks of how he is being internalized, it seems sir lavitz he has left the building as well

And it is sad to see legendary go. He was definitely a fun player to be foes with.

I'd ask we keep this thread a truly non-spin zone. Cause I'd like to see a lot of participation here.

In so far as friend and foe alike have contributed to making Upsilon what it is, we should pay respect to those whose flagship has sailed beyond the horizon for the last time. So I'd like to encourage all folks to use this to bid a proper farewell to friends and frenemies alike.

Unlike Garydam's departure, Sir Lavitz' is not so enjoyable. You see, in real life he is a pirate. And after getting busted on a high speed chase (he nearly escaped) with an expired license, the judge kinda lost it on Lavitz and threw the book at em. Since prisoner broadband access isn't a big priority in the Big House, Sir Lavitz' VM allotment is a lot less than the time he'll be serving.

So I say good bye to a true pirate, virtual and real, and good-bye to yet another very good friend from servers of old.

I can go along with that fair request, however under certain circumstances I don't think we should be providing all RL reasons as to why some people have left the game.

He made it publicaly known; otherwise, I'd have kept mum. You gotta admit that this is one of the more unusual reasons how real life can cut a good grepo career short in a heartbeat. wow.

I wonder with IPfreely into the wind gone now if Havoc and TEG can make peace and perhaps maybe even steal a crown?

Thank you, Mikos, for that generous farewell. Perhaps in another world sometime in the future we will meet on the battlefield.

TT- lmao! What Havoc? They are gone, hun. Better go find yourself another group to ruin.

Fare thee well GQDavis, Kingdingdong, Idomenes, Beaterman (?), Rhashark and Herzele (?).

The first three were tough competitors when I first came on the scene up in O55. Garydam and I started two cities called Right Dong and Left Dong around Kingdingdong's city of BigDong during the Hive's last weeks of existence. GqDavis and Idomenes launched fine attacks against us new invaders of the former Hive Sanctum; they both hit hard. I'll also miss the wildman antics of Beaterman who dependably adding full unescorted olu nukes whenever he thought a harbor might be clear (He was often wrong). Fun players all.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Rhashark was an incredibly bold player and good friend of mine. I sent him into O57 with the support of 4 static def cities and the dude quickly built an empire inside of AM/DM. He's the main reason I stand at #6 on the server in Defense as of this posting. The DBPs he attracted were utterly insane. Alas, once the fluid fronts started to trench up and earnest preparation for WWs commenced, this born bezerker got bored. He is now an alliance leader on a speed 3 world and informs me he's loving it. I think grepo should open up a speed 5 world for all the fast moving sharks out there to enjoy. At any rate, I'm happy for you and the alliance you helped found over there. Good luck and good Grepo'ing!

I would love to see Herzele return or even hear from him. He went VM to go hiking in Europe and poof. At any rate, he's been gone for two straight months and is still in the top ten attackers of Upsilon as of this post. OMG this guy was truly awesome, and in my estimation, the best. One of my favorite sayings from him was "with 2,000 ls and several olu nukes and a bunch of catapults, who needs to send spies. I'll know exactly where his wall and troops will be in the next few hours." Actually, he had a bunch of sayings; I wish I had jotted them down. He was very opinionated, clever, and a lot of laughs. It was sad to see him not return from VM

With Rhashark are you talking about Juktas? That world is speed 2. I know he is there, and he is towards the top of that world as well. But I am 90% positive he didnt found Radioactive, and to be quite honest that world suckssss lol
