Well if you started in the very beginning of the server it wouldn't be too hard i have cs researched already. it would be a colony though

I only checked 2 but both were located on an island without a farming village, so to me, I would rather wait.

All players with 2 cities now (except if there is some extremely lucky basterd who find a ghost town) is colonies.
Since you can't attack players, you obviously can't conquer them ;-)

Sure. I figured it is obvious they are colonies on non farming islands. Thats seems ludicrous to me. But I guess if you are spending gold you could theoretically get that colony up to a decent size by the end of bp. You would also need some good places to farm close to you to make it work as well. Though, farming has not started yet so even with gold it would be slow going. Seems like a waste of a cp to me but it could work I guess.

some people don't buy gold. ( I dont) some people earn gold ( I have a few times ) some people have no life and play to the min/max of the game. ( I try ) go figure.
